OBAMA IS PRESIDENT!!!!!!

So I wanted to write yesterday but, Me and Nyla was out making history come alive so I’m going to write about yesterday’s events today.

November 4th 2008:
I woke Nyla up very early because I wanted to get out and Rock the Vote. It was a journey indeed and I felt so happy and fortunate to be going out to vote with Nyla. We arrived at the polls at the school across the street. As frustrating as it was inside, the deed was done and we went off to purchase a newspaper to prepare for this historical event.

Sakinah stopped by to hang out with us girls for a while and enjoyed Nyla’s company. After Sakinah left we where off to My sister’s house since she was giving an election dinner. When we arrived a few minutes later Grandma Pat and Auntie Gina arrived for the event later on Grandpa Reggie joined us. What a feeling it was when the numbers came in and the reality set that the next President of the United States would be this intelligent man of African- American decent, from Harvard and the streets of Chicago, IL paving and making a way as he knew for the middle and lower class citizens of that town. A man that not only represent us by color, but who speaks for us when for years we never had a voice. A man despite how anyone may feel about politics, has officially broken down those walls for the African- American race in particular and people of other races, colors and creeds. A man who has officially told Nyla and every other child of color that yes our ancestors may have been the product of slavery but look at what you can become, look what doors I have opened for you. So become that Doctor you want to be, become that Lawyer you want to be, become the Scientist that you want to be, Most of all become that President that I have become. It’s no longer Not being able to have a dream but, being able to live this dream because Barack Obama is living proof that Martin Luther Kings dream still exist. Thank you Barack for opening that door that my daughter and every other child who now has something to believe in. yes it has been a long time coming but a change has come and I’m so fortunate to have experienced it with my family and my daughter in particular. Although only 1 years of age; the world is now in her hands!!!!!!!

Nyla may not understand what went on November 4, 2008. But she will know that she was around watching history being made.

Be Blessed and be well
